This weekend was absolutely wonderful! It was the perfect mix of “work” and play! On Friday afternoon I visited with my friend (and 2015 bride-to-be) Mary! We had lunch and then toured her venue – beautiful Historic Blenheim. I am very excited for her big day in June! Saturday was spent capturing a stunning Washington, DC wedding! Courtney & Nick are an incredible couple and they couldn’t have asked for a prettier day. I am SO excited to share more from this wedding on Wednesday! On Sunday I spent the day hiking with Josh at Shenandoah River State Park! We hiked five miles along the river and in the forest. It was the perfect way to relax after a busy and rewarding few weeks!
Here are a few lessons learned/events that transpired this weekend:
Whole Foods might be my new favorite place! If you’ve never tried their Key Lime Cheesecake Tart, do yourself a favor and go get one right.this.instant. I promise you they are best things EVER! I had one on Friday and have been thinking about it ever since. That’s not weird is it?
The Capitol Police are not so friendly to bus drivers, but very friendly to bridal parties (with a permit) – that is of course once they walk a cool 4-5 blocks onto the grounds! I’m very thankful that Courtney, Nick and their friends were willing to make the effort. The portraits we got at the Library of Congress and Senate Park were so worth it!
When hiking on humid days, be sure to take along extra water! File this in Hiking 101. You would think after 5+ years we’d have learned our lesson, but no! I am always thankful for park visitor centers that offer cold drinks – Lemonade never tasted as good as it did Sunday!
iPhone cameras are awesome. After shooting for 10 hours on Saturday, I didn’t have it in me to carry my large digital camera on Sunday. I am so happy with the shots I got on my iPhone and I just love it!
Here are a few sneak peeks from Saturday! More to come on Wednesday:
