Roughly once a month, I will introduce one of my favorite vendors in the industry– completely unpaid, just out of sheer love of working with them.

This month, I am proud to feature hair & makeup artist Lori Nansi of Le Mariee Makeup Artistry. Lori is incredibly talented at what she does. She is great at crafting a polished, beautiful, and timeless look. It is always an honor to work with her and the brides she transforms. Without further ado, meet Lori!

How did you get started?
I had a fascination with beauty at an early age (12). I remember taking Vogue magazine and trying to duplicate makeup styles onto myself. This passion grew into a career. I started out working for national cosmetic companies, which grew into TV/film/commercial work, and of course I have always done weddings!

What inspires your work?
I am deeply inspired by paintings – watercolor in particular. I always hope to leave an impression of effortless beauty and romance. . . a look that’s unforgettable.

What do you like to do in your free time?
Besides spending as much time as I can with my family, I love to shop. I am definitely a foodie :) I travel when I get the opportunity and my guilty pleasure is Bravo TV :) I also love a spa day! There’s nothing like a good pedi!

What’s a fun fact about you that your clients may not know?
I save all of the wedding invites, save the dates, and thank you cards I get from my Brides. I have a Gigantic collection!

Do you have any insider tips on makeup or for brides on their wedding day?
Definitely wear faux eye lashes, strips or individuals! They really bring your bridal makeup to another level and you will appreciate what a gorgeous profile they give you in your photographs! And remember a little more makeup than usual is essential  when your wearing white/ivory. Don’t forget to carry your lip color for touch ups! It keeps your look fresh :) Also, highlight your hair, it gives dimension and texture in photographs and brightens your face :)

How much time should a bride plan for her makeup and hair?
I typically suggest 45 min for bridal makeup and 1 hour for bridal hair (This can change depending on your desired makeup style and, as far as hair goes, the length, texture, and desired style.) Always do a Bridal trial for hair/makeup to get an exact idea prior to planning your wedding timeline.
What’s trending in the beauty industry for Weddings/Events now?
Low soft romantic updos, as well as incorporating braids into any style. Makeup wise seeing a lot of red/wine darker lips with nude eye shadows. I think once we hit spring/summer 2014 we will start to see these lip shades turn to red/bright pink/brighter berry shades with neutral eyes that are dressed up with shimmery shades of bronze/gold/taupe.

What trend are you tired of seeing?
Strapless gowns!!!!!
What’s your favorite moment during the wedding day?
For me, it’s most definitely unveiling the final look to the Bride :) I am also a HUGE sucker for first looks. . . those always make me tear up! They also make for the most gorgeous wedding photos!!!
