Travel Tuesday: Yosemite Part 1

I think every photographer dreams about going to Yosemite – at least I know I did! When Josh and I started planning this trip over a year ago I couldn’t believe I would actually have the opportunity to go! While Josh was busy planning our hiking adventures (more on that to come in Part 2), I spent my time studying Ansel Adams – not only his brilliant work, but also his activism and writings on Yosemite. He truly lead a meaningful life and learning all that I did made me even more grateful to experience this extraordinary place! I could never sum up Yosemite as eloquently as Ansel, so I will leave you with his words, followed by some of my favorite photos from the first few days of our trip –

“The great rocks of Yosemite, expressing qualities of timeless yet intimate grandeur, are the most compelling formations of their kind. We should not casually pass them by, for they are the very heart of the earth speaking to us.”

The photo above is what’s left of Ansel’s famous Jeffrey Pine. This might be my favorite photo from the trip. Standing where he stood and trying to “make” a photograph was a humbling experience!
