A few weeks ago I met with Laci & Isaiah for their engagement shoot at the Kentlands in Gaithersburg! I think I speak for all of us when I say we had SO much fun!
This shoot lends itself to three distinct parts (or mini-shoots), as Laci had a lot of ideas for photos! For me, as a photographer, this was so awesome. I loved feeling like I had three shoots in one. Each brought a new energy and sense of creativity for me, which was really refreshing!
Mini Shoot One: The Pretty Portraits
We started the shoot with classic portraits. Laci wanted an urban feel so we used the streets and sidewalks of the Kentlands. I love the way the warm light highlights their clothing – Laci and Isaiah are one stylish couple, wouldn’t you agree?
Mini Shoot Two: The Court Captures
When he’s not busy making Laci laugh, Isaiah is a professional basketball player! He played at Florida State University in college – where he and Laci met – and has played professional basketball in Europe since graduating in 2008! A big part of choosing the Kentlands for their shoot was to take advantage of the basketball court. Laci wanted to capture Isaiah in his element – and even wore sneakers for the occasion (this is a rarity!). I LOVE how these shots highlight their personalities!
Mini Shoot Three: The Sophisticated Shots
There are only two things to say about this shoot. 1) Laci and Isaiah could be models. 2) These are some of my favorite photos I’ve taken to date!
Before I end this post, I want to thank Jasmine – Laci’s friend who helped with her hair & makeup, and assisted at the shoot! She really helped out a lot and it was great having her there!
To Laci and Isaiah: I hope you love the photos! Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to document this exciting time in your lives. I wish you all the best as you plan your wedding for next year!
