Prior to Katie’s beautiful wedding, I had the honor of photographing her bridal portraits! We shot them in the beautiful courtyard of the National Portrait Gallery a few weeks before her wedding! It was a stunning location and Katie made a stunning bride! She coordinated the shoot with the trial run of her hair/makeup so it worked out perfectly. She also carried a smaller version of her official bouquet.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with bridal sessions, they are one of the longest-standing Southern wedding traditions. Many brides choose to use this day as a trial run for hair and makeup, as well as a great way to become more comfortable in front of the camera prior to their wedding day. Traditionally, a bridal portrait is printed and becomes a family keepsake that is displayed on an easel near the guest book (at the reception). After the wedding, it is hung in the bride’s parents home for years to come!
Katie’s mom joined us for the shoot too and it was a wonderful mother/daughter experience. I was so happy Katie decided to do the shoot! Below are a few of my favorites.
*** I would love, love, love to do more of these sessions in the future! If any brides out there are interested in bridal portraits, please contact me for more information!
