Amanda & Chris are my favorite kind of clients. Any couple who is brave enough to hold their engagement session in the middle of winter gets bonus points from me! When we met for their consultation we decided on a Christmas Tree Farm engagement shoot! I left the meeting super excited to plan their shoot. After looking around for options, we decided on Snickers Gap Tree Farm! It was the perfect location that almost wasn’t. . .
When I pulled up at the tree farm I was greeted by a sign that said “Closed for the Season.” What?!? Ahhhh! I tried to think on my toes for two alternative options. 1) Drive the country roads and “wing it,” pulling off when we saw good spots for photos (not hard to find in that area). Or 2) Somewhere in Leesburg that I had already shot at – Morven Park, maybe? I called Amanda & Chris – who were thankfully running late due to traffic – and we decided on Option 1. In the meantime, I tried calling the number for the tree farm to see if I could get through to someone. I had no luck.
Well, Chris had the same idea! He called too and spoke with the owner (who lives on the property). She was willing to come open the gate and let us in! Chris said it must’ve been his smooth as silk, policeman voice – haha! I’m guessing it was his humor. . .
When Amanda & Chris arrived, so did Mary. She was so sweet to walk down and let us in. We were all grateful to her and were amazed at how well she got around for being 82! She walked down twice during our time at the farm and I’ll consider meeting her one of the highlights!
