When Josh and I visited Yosemite in July, we made a day trip to Sequoia National Park! It was stunning to say the least! You truly cannot capture the magnitude of the scenery in photos. I shot a single roll of film when we were there and these are my favorite photos!
Today I’m happy to introduce you to one of the most beautiful Washington, DC wedding venues, Sequoia DC. Located on the banks of the Potomac River, Sequoia offers breathtaking views of the Kennedy Center, Roosevelt Bridge, Roosevelt Island, Key Bridge and the Virginia skyline. This venue is perfect if you’re looking for a classic, Washingtonian wedding venue. I have loved shooting at Sequoia ever since I photographed Katie & Mike‘s wedding in 2012. I asked Heather, Sequoia’s senior catering sales manager, to answer some questions about her gorgeous venue and here is what she had to say:
How would you describe the atmosphere of Sequoia in three words?
Stunning. Classic. Washingtonian.
What makes Sequoia stand out as a wedding venue?
Where else can you bask in floor-to-ceiling glass windows overlooking the Potomac River and skyline? Guests certainly get a taste of DC while dancing the night away!
What is the maximum number of guests you can accommodate?
Our maximum is in the 250 range, depending on your specific set-up needs.
Do you have space for the bride to get ready?
Bridal parties come “show ready” when doing their ceremony on-site.
Is there a time limit on how long a wedding/party can be at your venue?
Wedding receptions are 5 hours, with a 6th hour added on to the event when the ceremony is hosted here. Evening events can start as early as 6 PM and end as late as 1:30 AM.
Do you have event planners on staff?
Your Sales Manager works with couples through the planning process on their layout and menu selection process. On the day of the event, the banquet manager oversees the service of the event and your dedicated banquet captain is wining & dining the happy couple and their family throughout the evening.
Can brides use their own vendors, or do you work with a certain set?
While we are happy to make recommendations of vendors who have worked here before and do a great job, brides can use any licensed business they choose.
What is one important piece of advice you would like to share with couples in choosing a wedding venue?
Envision the photo-ops available in and around each venue you look at.

Thank you so much, Heather for all the wonderful information!
Katie & Steve were married on Saturday at the gorgeous Sequoia Restaurant in Georgetown, DC! I know I say all the time at I work with the sweetest couples, but it’s worth repeating for these two! Everything about this day was elegant yet relaxed, the perfect reflection of how they are together! Steve is from New Jersey and Katie is from Arkansas. Having met and fallen in love in DC, it was the ideal city to host family and friends as they vowed forever! The entire day was filled with details that highlighted their love of their adopted home. From the sweet ceremony sentiments that recounted their love story, to the custom table numbers that reflected areas around town special to their relationship, to the Georgetown Cupcake favors, their celebration was personal, unique and inviting to all who attended!
To the newlyweds, I’m honored that I had the opportunity to capture such special memories for you. I hope you enjoy the preview of your images below! Love you guys!

These three words are my approach to photography. I strive for my work to possess all three qualities.
Timeless – Your collection should stand the test of time. I want you to look back at your images five, ten, twenty years from now and still love them as much as you did the first time you saw them.
Touching – Your images should evoke emotion and take you back to the moment they were captured.
True – Your images should represent YOU! They should be true to who you were at the time they were taken.
I hold myself accountable to these three standards and always shoot with them in mind.
All collections include: Eight hours of wedding day coverage by Beth T, hundreds of edited high-resolution images delivered digitally through a customized online gallery and a complimentary engagement session.
Please contact me for detailed pricing information.
Sessions begin at $350 and include edited high-resolution images.
** I offer a 10% military discount on all services
Where do you typically shoot?
I like working with my clients to come up with the perfect location. The ultimate decision is made by the client – I merely serve as a reference!
When do you typically shoot?
As I prefer shooting outdoors in natural light, sessions are held either in the morning or evening. Typically 2 hours after sunrise or 2 hours before sunset.
What should I wear?
In my experience, there is not a particular color or pattern that photographs better/worse than another. So, I always tell clients to wear something that is true to who they are. If you wear sneakers more than heels, take that into consideration. You want your photos to be true to you – and outfit choice plays a critical role.
How long before I get to see my photos?
I will post a blog sneak peek within a few days of your shoot or event.
For Weddings, you can expect your gallery of images 4 weeks from your wedding date – the perfect one month anniversary present!
For Senior & Portrait sessions, you can expect your gallery of images within 2 weeks time.
What products do you offer?
I offer a variety of products for you to choose from including: Leather Flush-mount Albums, Guest Books, Canvas Wall Art, custom designed Thank You cards, Save-the-Dates, Graduation Announcements, and much more.

A few months ago I got my first email from Katie. She said she lived in Chicago and had found me online. She needed a photographer for her Memorial Day Weekend wedding in D.C.! I was beyond excited to be included in such a fabulous affair! When she told me it was being held at St. Matthew’s Cathedral & Sequoia I think I did a happy dance in my chair to avoid squealing over the phone!
I met Katie, her Mom, and her sister for coffee a few weeks ago and from then on it was clear this wedding would be something special. They told me about all the fun details – like the Georgetown Cupcakes, Signature Drink, Cigar Bar, Flip Flops, and modern floral arrangements! I was amazed at how detail oriented she was – she apologized for being Type A and I told her I was too, so we would definitely get along great!
Everything turned out perfectly mostly due to Katie’s organization and planning skills. After the ceremony, we made it to three locations in D.C. for portraits – the Lincoln Memorial, Pennsylvania Ave, & Georgetown Cupcake – and were back with plenty of time to freshen up before the reception!
Katie & Mike – thank you both so much for letting me be part of your day! It was truly an honor to capture your love!
